A Lucent is someone who affirms the Lucent beliefs and commits to the Lucent way of life. Membership is more than attending a discussion: it is a conscious commitment to live before God with truth, conscience, integrity, mercy, and service.
The Lucent Covenant
I acknowledge one God and commit myself to seeking truth, living with integrity, practicing mercy and justice, serving others, examining my own life honestly, and walking in fellowship with people whose convictions may differ from mine.
What the commitment means
The Five Affirmations express the beliefs at the heart of Lucency. The Covenant expresses how we intend to live with God and with one another. The Lucent Practice gives those intentions a daily shape.
The Covenant is not a claim to moral perfection. It calls us to honest self-examination, responsibility for harm, willingness to make amends, and continued growth.
Being a Lucent asks something of you: to keep your word, examine your motives, care for others, and accept correction when your conduct falls short of your convictions.
A religious home
Lucency can be your religious home: a life of devotion to God, convictions to live by, and a fellowship in which to grow. No prior religious membership is required.
Belonging carries a responsibility to others. Offer the patience, honesty, practical help, and care that you would hope to receive.
Taking the next step
Read the Five Affirmations. Consider whether you can make the Covenant honestly. Explore the daily practice and the kind of person it asks you to become.
You are welcome to learn and reflect before making a commitment.
